Life Story for Carrie Nichols

Carrie Nichols
Vardaman---Carrie Carter Nichols, 96, entered into Heaven during the early morning hours of June 13, 2018, from her home in Vardaman. Born December 6, 1921in Vardaman, she was the daughter of the late Guy Carter and the late Margaret Lavina Edmondson Carter. She graduated from Wardwell School in 1938, and was married that same year to Robert Earl Nichols, and together they had four sons. Ms. Carrie was a faithful member of Vardaman First Baptist Church, and loved her church and her church family, especially her Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Merry Hearts Club.
Ms. Carrie was a very hard worker. Her husband Robert Earl was a sweet potato farmer, and she worked right along beside him. Her family will always remember how she would get up every morning and cook breakfast for all of them, have dinner started, and would then be pulling slips before they got on the bus for school. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. She also loved to cook for her family, and “anybody else” that showed up. Everyone was welcome at her table. She also enjoyed reading, especially John Grisham novels.
The Lord granted Ms.Carrie a very long and fruitful life here on earth, but He needed her in Heaven. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family, but they find comfort in knowing they will be reunited with her someday.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Nichols family.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Friday, June 15, 2018, at 1:00pm at Vardaman First Baptist Church. There will also be a visitation on Friday at 11:00am until service time at the church. Bro. Loyl Johnson will be officiating, with Bro. Jim Vance delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Calhoun City.
Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Stroup, Steve Kerr, Todd Ellzey, Keith Dardar, Pepper Watts, and Tristan Nichols. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class 4B, Danny Bailey, Bill Gore, Rodney Gillespie, Joe Edmondson, Roger Williams, and Keith Taylor. She leaves behind two sons, Thomas Wayne Nichols of Vardaman, and Joe Carter (Frances) Nichols of Houston; nine grandchildren, Trina (Dewayne)Karruth of Baton Rouge, Tim Nichols of Brandon, Patty (Steve) Kerr of Pensacola, FL; Anna (Todd) Ellzey of Hattiesburg, MS; Allison (Keith) Dardar of Diamond Head, MS; Donna Watkins of Vardaman, Mica (Anthony) Stroup of Vardaman; Chasity Nichols of Biloxi, and Johnny Nichols of Vardaman; 13 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Earl Nichols, two sons, Bobby Lee Nichols and Earl Donaldson Nichols; grandson, Micheal Nichols, and two sisters, Catherine Davis and Loucretia Martin.
