Life Story for Carey Crow

Carey Crow
Carey Crow, 59, entered into his Heavenly home from North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Born April 20, 1958, in Batesville, MS, he was the son of the late George Thomas Crow and the late Idell Black Crow. Carey was retired after working 22 years at Lane Furniture, and most recently for 5 years with Med-Lift. He attended Calhoun City High School, and was a member of College Hill Baptist Church. Not many people knew just how important his faith was to him. He was re-Baptized at College Hill Baptist Church because he wanted to set a good example for his family. Carey and Gail were married on July 7, 2001, and together raised four kids. He loved his kids. He adored them. They were his. He made sure everyone KNEW they were his. It was not only his own kids that he loved, but others that he “helped raise.” He thought of them all as his own. Gail will always remember when they first married he took her for a ride on a beautiful red motorcycle he had borrowed from a friend. She had never been on a bike, and says Carey failed to mention to her that he hadn’t ridden one in over 15 years either, AFTER they had ridden for about two hours! Carey loved football, and everyone that knew him will always remember the “Crows Nest.” It was all about good food, good friends, and of course, Wildcat Football at the Bone Yard on Friday nights. A special memory the family will always have is when the schools started to not allow prayer before games. It was suggested that the pastor come to the Crows Nest and broadcast the prayer from there. Carey immediately agreed, and prayer at Wildcat Football games continued because of Carey. He fought a long, hard battle with his cancer for many years, but Carey loved life, loved his family and all his friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and has left a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever in their hearts.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Bro. Jim Vance will be officiating with Bro. Chance Parish delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Montevista Cemetery in Webster County.
Serving as pallbearers will be T.C. Harrelson, Jimmy Mooneyham, Randy Yancy, Carl Ray Mooneyham, Chris Ingle, and Ronnie Huffman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alana Dickey Crow, C.J. Crow, Lane Crow, and JayCee Crow. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 17 years, Patricia Gail Crow; two sons, Carey Clifton “C.J.” Crow, Jr, and Lane Thomas Crow; two daughters, Alana Desiree’ Dickey Crow, and Diana JayCee Crow; a brother, Terry Crow and his wife Brenda of Calhoun City; five nephews, one niece, and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Diane Crow Byars.
