Obituary for Richard Clark

Richard Clark
Charles Richard Clark, 73, passed away peacefully at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Born April 14, 1944, in New Orleans, LA, he was the son of the late Charles P. Clark and the late Pauline Jennings Clark. Richard attended Vardaman High School, and was a Deacon and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Lucy Russell Clark, and they have spent 55 wonderful years together. He served as Justice of the Peace Judge for Calhoun County, and he retired after serving as Maintenance Manager with Oakwood Apartments in Calhoun City. Richard also served his community by being a volunteer fireman for Calhoun City Fire Department for over 35 years. He was also an EMR responder for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved to be outdoors either hunting or fishing. Richard was loved and highly respected by his community, but to his friends and family, he was larger than life, and his memory will be cherished forever in their hearts.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Bro. Willie Weddle, Bro. Jim Vance, and Bro. Danny Spratlin will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Gordon, R.M. England, Robert Cumberland, Chester Ray Dye, Larry Goodwin, and Mike Beasley. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Calhoun City, Derma, and Sabougla Fire Departments, and also the Deacons of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Lucy Russell Clark; a son, David Clark and his wife Cresta of Calhoun City; two daughters; Tonia Clemons and her husband Jimmy, and Angelia Jenkins, both of Calhoun City; a sister, Betty Alexander and her husband Larry of Vardaman; 11 grandchildren, Brandi Ward and Haley (Kris) Caviness both of Calhoun City; Dr. Paul Clemons, Dallas, TX; Cheslin (Matt) Astorino, Anchorage, AK; Christian Jenkins, Joshua Clemons, Faith Clark, Lily Grace Clark, Noah P.Clark, Jonah Clark, and Isabella Clark all of Calhoun City; and 5 great-grandchildren, Alaina Jenkins, Seth Tucker, Henry Caviness, Holton Caviness, and Sofie Kellum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Pauline Clark, and a sister, Mildred Ann Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the fire departments of Calhoun City, Derma, or Sabougla.
