Virginia Howard Vanlandingham, 95, passed away peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Calhoun City on Monday, November 6, 2017. Born November 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Henry Grady Howard and the late Nora Ethel Aycock. She graduated from Derma High School in 1940, and married Eltis Vanlandingham in 1945. They were married for 42 years until his death in 1988. She was a member of Derma Baptist Church. A very Godly woman, she often taught Bible School, and loved teaching the children about the Lord. Ms. Virginia was a homemaker, and spent time working on the family farm and in the family store. She had a love for sewing and still sewed and actually modeled her dresses up until a few years ago. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and always put her love for others ahead of herself. A very gracious and giving woman, her memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at 1:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City, MS, with Bro. Roger Reeder officiating. There will also be a visitation from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Calhoun City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bart Vanlandingham, Jay Vanlandingham, Bradley Vanlandingham, and Jonathan Denley.
She leaves behind three sons; William Jefferson Vanlandingham of San Antonio, TX, Andrew Howard (Mary Ann) Vanlandingham, of Jackson, MS, and James Eltis Vanlandingham of Derma, MS; three sisters; Eva Traylor and Frankie Traylor both of Atlanta, GA, and Edna Ruth Herring of Memphis, TN; a brother, Stanton (Deloris) Howard of Derma, MS; grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Thomasson and Bart (Genna) Vanlandingham both of San Antonio, TX; Leighann Vanlandingham of Vicksburg, MS; Bradley (Mandy) Vanlandingham of Clinton, MS; Jay (Amanda) Vanlandingham of Bruce, MS, and Machele (Jonathan) Denley of Derma, MS; great-grandchildren; Colton and Carley Thomasson, Julia Vanlandingham, Trey and Dani Caroline Vanlandingham, and Jemma and Layne Denley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eltis Vanlandingham; three sisters; Corrine Flack, Amy Clemmets, and Gladys Reid; and two brothers; Grady Howard, and Cecil Howard.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to Derma Baptist Church, and Pocahontas Baptist Church.
