Rebecca Jane Gaston Dye, 93, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on September 27, 2017. She was born March 17, 1924 in Noxapater, Mississippi, the eldest daughter of Robert T. Gaston and Gladys Shaw Ligon Gaston. She grew up in various towns in northern Mississippi as her father worked for the Grenada Banking System. As a young woman during World War II, she worked in a local factory that supplied parts for aircraft for the war effort. In 1945 she graduated from Mississippi State College for Women with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She married Robert F. Dye in 1947 in Calhoun City--a loving union that lasted 68 years until his passing in 2015.

Early in their marriage, she taught high school science and home economics until the birth of her first child. From that time on, she was a devoted mother, daughter, wife, sister, and friend to many. She was a talented homemaker and many friends enjoyed her pound cakes and other southern specialties. For many years she was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mable Young Gaston; and brother, Robert T. Gaston, Jr. Survivors include her sister Mrs. Bobbie Kenna of McComb, Miss.; three daughters, Rebecca Dye Parkhill and her husband Trent of Winchester, Mass., Margaret Dye Baker and her husband Wesley of Friendswood, Texas, and Robin Dye-Martin and her husband Don of Richmond, Virginia. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Jason Parkhill and his wife Kristen, Robert Baker and his wife Jamie, Donnie Martin and his wife Rebekah, Scott Parkhill, Sarah Martin, Stirling Martin and Kristin Baker; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Zooey Parkhill.

Graveside services and burial will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00am at Calhoun City Cemetery, Calhoun City, Mississippi.
