Obituary for Jan Hutchins (Gregg)

Jan Hutchins (Gregg)
Jan Gregg Hutchins, 66, passed away peacefully at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Born January 27, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. Gregg and the late Clarice Fuggett Gregg. She was a retired educator, and a member of Vardaman First Baptist Church. Ms. Jan taught school for over 26 years before her retirement in 2000. During that time, she touched the lives of an entire generation of students, and gave them knowledge that they used throughout their lives. She also had a green thumb, and loved gardening and working in the yard. She loved growing tomatoes, and grew some of the best around. Ms. Jan also loved to take care of animals, especially her beloved “Girl”, a stray that loved Ms. Jan in return, but not too many other people. She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, and had a great sense of humor. She loved her family dearly, especially her precious grandkids. A very sweet and kind woman, her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends, but they rejoice that she is with her Father in Heaven.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 3:00pm at Vardaman First Baptist Church. There will also be a visitation from 1:00pm until service time at 3:00pm. Bro. Mark Longino will be officiating, with Bro. Daniel Heeringa delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Vardaman.
Pallbearers will be Earl McGregor, Sonny Fuggett, Gregg Pepper, John Ed Carter, Brooks Hutchins, and Derek Hutchins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin Davis, Keith Davis, Dewayne Winter, and Mart Fuggett.
She leaves behind Mickey Hutchins; a daughter, Kisha Cardwell Bailey and her husband Stephen of Vardaman, MS; a son, Gregg Cardwell and his wife Mollie, of Houston, MS; a sister, Tonya Gregg of Tupelo, MS; Ms. Jan was also blessed with four grandchildren, Britton Bailey, Rivers Bailey, Elias Cardwell, and Liam Cardwell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie B. Gregg.
Memorials can be made to The Dog Lovers League, 135 Easley Avenue, Bruce, MS, 38915.
Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at pryorfuneralhome.com.
