Obituary for Janet Porter Ramage

Janet Porter  Ramage
Janet Porter Ramage, 82, passed away peacefully at Baptist Nursing Home on Saturday, June 17, 2017. Born September 9, 1934, in Houston, MS, she was the daughter of the late George Lyndon Porter and the late Mary Alice Smith Porter. She was a member of New Providence Baptist Church, where she was very active. Anyone that knew her would say “she was there every time the doors were open.” She taught Sunday School and especially loved Bible School. Ms. Janet had 28 years of perfect attendance for Sunday School. She was active in WMU, and was also a volunteer music director. For over forty years she lead the music for revivals and programs in various churches all over Calhoun County and North Mississippi. Janet and her husband, Laderle Ramage, were saved on the same night. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before his untimely passing in 2001. Ms. Janet was a very loving and caring woman, and will be missed deeply by her family and friends.
Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will be a visitation on Monday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday from 1:00 pm until service time. Officiating will be Bro. John Stewart, Bro. Mike Ramage, and Bro Keith Ramage. Burial will follow at New Providence Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Phil Lucius, Justin Moore, Daniel Ramage, Benjy Herrin, Grover Edington, and Lynn Lucius. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Porter Moore and Kyle Ramage.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Justin) Moore of Calhoun City; three sons; Ronald Terry “RT” (Dianne) Ramage, Vardaman; Steve (Bridgette) Ramage, Calhoun City; and Bro. Mike (Patti) Ramage , Tillatoba, MS; Two sisters; Frances Powell, Hattiesburg, MS, and Bonnie (Bobbie) Baird of Houston, MS. Seven Grandchildren; Daniel (Jennifer) Ramage, Oxford; Amanda (Benjy) Herrin, Bruce; Ashley (Justin) McClain, Brandon, MS;Kyle (Claire) Ramage, Raleigh, NC; Mary Margaret Moore, Jeff Porter Moore, and Micheal Joy Moore. Two great-grandchildren; Addie Herrin and Jack Herrin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laderle Ramage; her parents, George Lyndon and Mary Alice Porter; and a brother, George Lyndon Porter, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to New Providence Baptist Church general fund or cemetery fund. 117 E Fox Ave, Calhoun City, MS 38916.
