Margaret Meadows Jones, 88, passed away peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Calhoun City on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Born January 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Garland Meadows and the late Nona Owens Meadows. Retired from Kellwood, she was a loving mother and devoted Christian woman. She was a member of Grace Southern Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years. She was a member of the WMU, and worked at the daycare at Lewis Memorial Methodist Church. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

A funeral service honoring her life will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 12:00pm at Grace Southern Baptist Church in Calhoun City. There will be a visitation on Friday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Saturday from 11:00am until service time at the church. Officiating will be Bro. Ervin Wright, with Bro. Carl Morris delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Calhoun City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marty Baker, Andy Mulky, Garrison Eatmon, Jesse Walls, Larry Leonard, and Robert Sharpe. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowery Guess, Tim Cardwell, James Earl Jones, and Chester Ray Dye.
She leaves behind a son, Randy Jones of Calhoun City; a daughter, Brenda (Jerry) Baker of Calhoun City; a daughter, Faye Jones Coker of Grenada; a son, James Everette (Paulette) Jones of Bude, MS; a brother, J.W. (Wanda) Meadows of Sabougla, MS; a sister, Mary (Larry) Leonard of Derma, MS. 8 grandchildren, Shone Baker Eatmon, Stephanie Coker Lucius, Jerry Martin “Marty” Baker, Jr., Jennifer Nichole Jones, Jesse Bryant Walls, Mindy Marie Jones, Darla Farmer, and Kenda Morris. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles Ray Jones, her husband of 55 years, James C. Jones, a brother, H.G. Meadows, and 3 sisters, Ruby Barnette, Hazel Veazy, and Nita Goodson.
