Obituary for Elaine Nichols

Elaine Nichols, 70, passed away peacefully at North Mississippi Medical Center on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Born October 10, 1946, in Paul’s Valley, OK, she was the daughter of the late Rutherford Allen Simmons and the late Orleane VanSchuyver Simmons. She was a member of College Hill Baptist Church. One thing Ms. Elaine loved to do was to research family history. She spent much of her time studying Genealogy and tracing ancestors and descendants. There weren’t too many people she couldn’t tell you something about. A strong-willed, but loving and caring woman, she will be deeply missed.
Pryor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held Monday, May 29, 2017, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will be a visitation on Monday from 12:00pm until service time at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Officiating will be Bro. Mike Ramage, with Bro. Jim Vance delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Calhoun City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Wooten, Anthony Stroup, Greg Pettit, Brenton Reynolds, Andrew Hamilton, and Cody Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gunner Lishman, Lane Watts, Lexie Kirby, Kenny Scott, Billy Hester, and Stacy Pettit.
She is survived by her son, Robert Lishman and his wife Diana of Vardaman; a sister, Darlene Hardin and her husband K-Boy of Vardaman; two grandchildren, Gunner Lishman and Kayla (Pepper) Watts; great-grandchildren, Lexie Kirby and Lane Watts; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R.A. Simmons and Orleane Simmons; and a brother, Richard Simmons.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, or Paralyzed Veterans of America. These were two organizations that Ms. Elaine felt very strongly about.
