Cecil Delane Holder, 91, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Baptist Nursing Home in Calhoun City. Born March 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Everett Holder and the late Rosie Collums Holder. Cecil and his wife, Lurlene have been married for 70 years. They met almost by accident. Cecil was the only one with a car, and while taking two friends out on a date, Ms. Lurlene tagged along, and 3 months later they were married on November 2, 1946. He was a member of Derma Baptist Church, as well as a deacon at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Cecil proudly served in the United States Navy, and is a veteran of WWII. He was a retired farmer, and when he wasn’t watching his beloved Ole Miss Rebels play, he spent most of his time woodworking, building everything from furniture and swings, to birdhouses. A very loving and caring man, Mr. Cecil will be greatly missed.

A funeral service honoring his life will be held Friday, May 19, 2017, at 1:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00am until service time at the funeral home. Officiating will be Bro. Roger Reeder. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dean Holder, Mike Holder, Dillon Holder, Garrett Holder, Blake Holder, Jesse Chrestman, Randy Schmitz, and David Lee, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lurlene Schmitz Holder; a daughter; Diane (David) Lee of Calhoun City; sons; Jerry Holder, Johnny (Beverly) Holder of Vardaman; Tom (Kim) Holder of Knoxville, TN; David (Diane) Holder of Batesville, AR; brother; Hubert Holder of Vardaman; sisters; Inez Schwalenburg and Francis Chrestman, both of Houston, MS, Glenda (George) Caulder of Calhoun City; grandchildren, Gene (Kay) Holder of Wynne, AR, Michelle (Keith) Gaskin of Pittsboro, MS, Neal (Catherine) Smith of Starkville, MS, Sherry Holder of Bruce, Blake Holder of Batesville, AR, April (Jeremy) Bledsoe of Batesville, AR, and Hannah and Haley Holder both of Knoxville, TN; and 10 great-grandchildren;Dillon, Taylor, Garrett, Lee Lee, Kayla, Emily, Haley, Cam, Hayley, and Haden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Rosie Collums Holder; sons, Charles Holder and Tim Holder; grandson, Jason Holder; great-grandson Milton Holder; brothers, James Holder, Lester Holder, Junior Holder, and Gerald Holder.
